What Was I Thinking?

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

As I backed my trailer into my driveway, my wife came out asking what I was thinking. The point is, I was backing in with a new Jeep (actually it was an old and rusty Jeep) and she really didn’t have the room (or any need) for it. Hence the question: What was I thinking? (more…)

Practice Makes Perfect

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Technology is an amazing thing. I hit my high trajectory golf balls with my graphite shafted, titanium-faced driver further than I ever could have with my old woods. Unfortunately, I now have to go deeper into the woods to find the ball that I sliced out of bounds. Of course, instead of spending my money on these fancy widgets, I realize now that I would have best been served if I had spent time on the practice tee, perfecting my technique. (more…)

24 Hours of Exhaustion

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

For twenty years the Camel Trophy was the ultimate display of what 4-wheel drive vehicles could accomplish. From 1980 to 2000, Land Rovers and Range Rovers, in every conceivable spec, traversed some of the most daunting and challenging areas on earth for weeks at a time. Another hallmark of the events was the emphasis on teamwork and mental challenges, in addition to the seemingly impossible terrain. It was an incredible test of man and machine, with teams from all over the world vying for the trophy. (more…)

We All Have That List

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

We all have that list, in one way or another, the list of things we want to do or accomplish in our lifetimes. Well, some items on the list are long term and have deeper meaning, things like seeing your children grow-up healthy and happy. Others with lesser levels of complexity, but also with meaning – items like parachuting out of a plane, bungee jumping from great heights, visiting Paris, hiking the Grand Canyon, and the list goes on. (more…)

A Trip to the Maze

Friday, February 4th, 2011

“We’ve been planning this for a year, why cancel just because it ‘might’ rain?” That’s what we were thinking as cold, wet weather forecast approached in advance of Offroad Passport’s recent trip to the Maze at Canyonlands National Park. Besides, we had permits to camp at The Dollhouse and special guests who’d flown to Arizona just for this trip. (more…)
